In order to improve the efficiency of supervision of construction in Lithuania – study visits to Nordic countries

State Territorial Planning and Construction Inspectorate under the Ministry of Environment has successfully implemented Nordic Council of Ministers’ Office in Estonia co-financed project “Study visits to Finnish and Norwegian construction regulatory and standartization authorities in order to share valuable knowledge, ‘know-how‘ and experience on best practices in the fields of supervision of construction and standartization”. Project activities, which have taken part in Helsinki and Oslo this autumn, brought together officials and experts from Nordic and Baltic construction regulatory, supervision of construction and standardization authorities.
Progressive Nordic legal regulation in the field of supervision of construction and innovative Nordic and Lithuanian information systems of construction permits, as well as Nordic experience on best practices in the area of standardization were presented during the study visits.
Exchange of experience on best practices with Nordic organizations was a significant step forward along the road of progress in the field of supervision of construction and standardization. Since exchange of knowledge was mutually beneficial, foundations for long-term Nordic-Baltic cooperation were laid during the study visits.
Gained knowledge and experience on best practices will be used in order to improve the efficiency of supervision of construction in Lithuania and to seek harmonisation of supervision of construction regulations in Nordic and Baltic countries.
